The following voluntary benefits are offered by the District.
Aflac Group Insurance – Accident, Critical Illness, and Hospital Indemnity
If something were to happen to you how would you continue to provide for your family? Aflac is different from major medical insurance because it's insurance for daily living. It pays cash benefits directly to you if you're in an accident or become seriously ill. You can use these benefits for whatever expenses you have, and rates don't go up when you file a claim.
The District offers the following insurance:
- Group Critical Illness
- Group Accident
- Group Hospital Indemnity
Employees may only enroll in the first 31-days of employment, or during Open Enrollment.

NEW! Edenred Commuter Pre-Tax Benefit
Effective January 1, 2023, the District will begin offering a NEW Pre-Tax Commuter Benefits Program to Non-Represented and Union Coalition employees.
Commuter Benefits can help you pay for your commute to and from work via public transit (i.e. BART, SMART, other non-GGB regional busses and ferries, as well as parking lots related to these transit services) using pretax dollars, which saves you money on your taxes each year.

Allstate Identity Protection
With all the personal data exposed in recent years, there’s a 50% chance that your information has been exposed. Allstate Identity Protection (AIP) takes your security seriously and wants to make sure your identity is fully protected.
That’s why the District is offering AIP as a voluntary benefit. AIP alerts you at the first signs of fraud and dedicated experts will fully manage and restore your identity.
